This is my helpful hedgehog. His name is Sausage.
The Hero from the Children’s Book
Except he’s not actually mine, but he is a real hedgehog. This doesn’t stop his fictional counterpart from taking up permanent residence in my mind though and telling me when to write another book.
Sausage belongs to my wonderful sister in-law, Pamela. She’s been nice enough to agree to Sausage’s publicity and often sends pictures of Sausage’s latest antics for inspiration…and to show to my hedgehog-obsessed toddler.
Just as Cute as From the Book but Not so Silly
Hedgehogs don’t actually go around doing the silly things you see in the books, like setting up Christmas trees or baking birthday cakes, but Sausage is still pretty fun and super cute. He’ll happily eat any snacks you’ll give him, run endless laps on his running wheel, and play in his tunnel. He’ll sleep for hours if you let him and can get cranky if you don’t, but he also has the best staring contests.
