We’ve been keeping a secret–or at least for those of you who don’t know me in person. My sweet daughter got a baby sister in January. We’ve been doing everything we can to make the transition from being an only child to being a big sister as easy as possible for her–not an easy task when she’s only just gaining an understanding of her place in the world at three years old. It only makes sense that Sausage, the Helpful Hedgehog, wanted to help.
I’ve always believed that books of any kind can make learning important lessons or understanding experiences easier and more enjoyable–and apparently Sausage agrees. And so does my dad. One evening while talking with my dad over the phone about the upcoming baby and new Helpful Hedgehog ideas, he gave me the idea of Sausage getting a new baby sister. I thought nothing of it at the time, but Sausage seemed to like the idea. It didn’t take long for the little hedgehog that has permanent residence in my mind to demand a new story of learning to take care of his new baby sister.
An Upcoming New Book–and rock concert?
And so, along with this new baby girl joining us in January, a new book will be joining the Helpful Hedgehog collection soon: The Helpful Hedgehog Gets a New Baby Sister. As always, it will be filled with sweet stories, silly antics, and beautiful illustrations that you won’t want to miss…And maybe an attempted hedgehog rock concert in place of a lullaby?
